*** Part of my Beer Series ***
Terrain Difficulty: Easy (flat, 1 mile RT)
Status: alive
The Twisted X Brewing Company has been brewing high-quality Tex Mex style craft beer since 2009 and established a large tasting room in 2013. Their first beer was the Twisted X Premium Lager featuring a subtle, hoppy flavor with a refreshing finish. It got its name from the ubiquitous barbed wire found throughout Texas and Mexico, so-named because it was made of wire barbs wrapped around a single strand of wire that was twisted around yet another strand and held in place by wooden posts. There are many other beers to choose from and you can try them seven days a week at the tasting room. But first, you can find this letterbox in nearby Charro Ranch Park, a great place for walking, biking and bird watching.
Directions:
From Hwy 290 go south on RR 12 for 1.7 mile, then left on RR 150 for 0.2 mile to Twisted X Brewery on the right. Continue 0.8 mile to Charro Ranch Park on the left.
Clues:
From parking lot go on right trail past picnic tables to Y jct. Go right on Cross Country Trail to 0.5 mile marker, then continue 50 steps to small cedar tree next to fence on right. Go left off trail 5 steps to oak tree #377. LB is at back base under a flat rock. You can continue on trail to loop back to parking lot, which will be 1.3 mile total.
Hike length: 1 mile
