Difficulty: Easy
Distance to Letterbox: 100 yards
The "Baker Brrrr" letterbox is located at Mount Baker rec area, at the very top. This mountain gets the most snow each year of any place in the lower 48. Often (like our last trip) it never clears for the summer. Luckily it was clear and we made it to the top....WOW. Great trails and views. We saw over 30 Mountain goats!!
Directions:
Basically take Hwy 542 through Glacier all the way to the view top and park at Artist Point parking.
To the Letterbox:
Find the Artist Point Ridge Trail sign, and take this trail to the first overlook on the right. Go left from overlook up the trail for 70 steps to a rock outcropping. Go right on top of it adn find standing rocks that form boarder at far edge. From rock line, go left along brush line for 6 steps. Go right toward small evergreen tree. Bend down and get to base of that tree (which is before cluster of large trees) and find box at base under rock pile.
