This box is along the Verde River in Dead Horse Ranch St. Prk. From I-17, take exit 287 and drive northwest on State Highway 260 to Cottonwood. Turn left on Main Street and go to N. 10th Street and turn right. Continue on N. 10th Street across the Verde River Bridge to the prk. There is a fee to enter the prk. After entering, proceed east on Dead Horse Ranch Road to Kingfisher Road. Turn right and drive south to the parking area at the end of the road.

At the far end of the parking area, look for the Verde River Greenway Trail. Walk east on it. At the “T” trail junction, go right down the slope. In a few yards you will arrive at another trail junction. Go left. After passing a very large Cottonwood Tree on the right, you will arrive at the next trail junction (no sign) where a narrower trail goes off to the right. From that junction, continue straight on the main trail for about 43 steps. From that point go at about 136 degrees (from mag. north) for about 27 steps to the southern end of a large prone white smooth-surface Cottonwood Tree trunk log leaning on another large prone Cottonwood trunk log with gnarly bark still on it. The box is under the east side of the southern end of the smooth log and covered with chunks of bark and other plant debris. Be alert for snakes.

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the chunks of bark so that it can not be seen from any direction.

I will not be able to check on the box very often; so, please let me know if you find it or if the box needs attention or is missing:

Please record your find at or at .
