When you enter the Hugh Taylor State Park turn right and park at the Beach Hammock Trail. There's a sign marking the trail with some great info. Sign says not to worry about the bears and panthers that no longer inhabit the area, so when you hear all the trees rustling rest assured it's just the wild iguanas. Lake Helen will be on the left, but no fishing! Enjoy the somber peace the trail has to offer, and when it asks if you want a change of direction just refuse. Keep following the path around, the fallen trees will guide you. You'll know you're in the right spot when you find the West side of the Coontie.
