Restrooms available, large parking area and RV turn around. Museum and gift shop hours: May-Oct. Tue-Sat. 9:00 Am – 4:00 P.M. The Box is accessible all the time but be careful to not alert attention to yourself. Please be quiet. Please be respectful of this area. While we hid the box away from the Culture area there are nearby sweathouses and other things of significance. There are 5 ½ acres of native plants.

Directions: In the Kern River Valley on Lake Isabella, between the burg of Lake Isabella and Wofford Heights on Hwy 155 you will find a turn off for the French Gulch Group Campground, Lake Patrol Office and the Nuui Cunni Indian Culture Center. The sign is brown and the letters are small. If you are coming from Lake Isabella the lakeside turn off is just after the bridge and the marina.

Clues: Take the French Gulch turn off and park near the culture center. You will find a gated road heading toward the group campground and parallel to that road is a dirt road heading up a slight hill. Walk up the dirt road and turn left at the 21st wooden upright from the group campground gate. Head southeast until you see the lake, marina & floating platform. Stop when you see a big rock group on your right with a daddy, mom, and 2 small babies in front of mom. Turn to your left toward a very large rock on the other side of the path. In front of this very large rock you will see a horizontal rock that makes a space between it and the large rock. The letterbox is hidden under one thin flat rock just behind the front horizontal rock where the horizontal rock meets the very large rock. When we left the box we also covered it with dead weeds. Please rehide the box well.

From the letterbox’s location a flat concrete slab can be found at 200 degrees about 35 feet away.

The stamp’s image is a re-creation of the logo on the Tubatulabal’s website. Use of multi colored pens would enhance the image.

When researching our clues please be aware that when previous searchers list “ATTEMPTED” on the clue sheets it may reflect more on their abilities as finders than indicate whether the box is viable or not. We do monitor our clues and boxes pretty well and appreciate the notes written to us by those that find or attempt our letterboxes.
