The Historic Letterbox Restoration Group, Girlguides Division, has adopted this box with the permission of the original planter, Black Cat. We have carved a new stamp that captures the essence of the original. The box also has a new logbook and a new box.

This box was placed to celebrate the wonderful vacation that we had in the Outer Banks. We sailed, we drove on the beach (in search of wild ponies) we visited lighthouses. We letterboxed! We visited Jockey's Ridge to sand board and we visited the Wright Brothers Memorial. We flew kites and time flew. Before we knew it our time on the OBX had come to a close. It was time to return home to Massachusetts.
Enjoy a soaring memory!
The Wright Flight Letter Box
Up the road a spell from where the history took flight a hundred years ago...
Past the Shores whose name is at the heart of Dixie...
Beyond the community named for waterfowl...
Past the Beacon with no paint…
Almost to the point where the road becomes dust (sand), and where the horses run free…
The Wright Flight a wait for thee…
Beyond the Beacon but before the road turns to dust, on a sharp curve, the State has set a side a an “Estuarine” for her residents and visitors…
Park here and enter the wood through the narrow gate…
As you walk, notice the different varieties of green….
Stop when you reach the “Loblolly Pine”, this is much easier to identify then you realize now…
Face the tree, look to your fee and with your eyes follow the edge of the path, not from where you came but from where you go…
Find the post that holds the beam, that supports the walk upon which you stand…
Not on the ground but upon this beam, the Wright’s Flight rests but cannot be seen.
Black Cat...Sleeping Dog...Funky Monkey...and a letterboxer wannabee!
