The Dancer

This sweet little box was originally planted in 2004 by the Lovers... When we came upon the Dancer, it came up for adoption. We have re-carved the broken stamp... it is a mirror image of the original... put in a fresh log book, and changed the site... as the previous spot was quite wet in early spring... so read on whether you've been to visit the Dancer in past years or not... we've added a bonus box to the Dancer that you can find when you visit her new hiding place!

***update
The Dancer log book has a bonus box written in the front of the notebook. I have listed this as unavailable since I have not been able to get out there and check out what the spring thaw has done to it. It was already in a run off area, and was nearly lost last spring... so just a warning - don't bother with it, unless you are up for an adventure, since I have no idea what shape it's in yet!!!!! I will repost once I get out there, or hear from someone who has! However, nearby - The Old Foundation is reported as happy and awaiting stamps!***

Ruby & Elizabeth Cohen Woodlands
The park contains at least 121 acres of open space located on McDonald Road. The land includes a pond, marshland, trails, and picnic areas. The property is owned by the town, and was acquired from the Cohen family through an open space grant in 1999.

Planted at the Ruby & Elizabeth Cohen Woodlands on McDonald Rd. in Colchester, CT. Drive through Colchester Center until you come to a Y which is the intersection of routes 85 and the beginning of route 354 also known as Parum Road. Bear left at the Y and go onto route 354. Travel .7 miles to McDonald Rd. Turn right onto McDonald Rd. Go another .7 of a mile up McDonald Road to the Ruby & Elizabeth Cohen Woodlands. Park on the right.

This is the same starting point as the "The Old Foundation."

Follow a line of large pine trees along the side of the pond. At the last tree stop. Look left... Don't follow the main trail that is straight back into the woods... instead look closely and you will see a smaller path to the left that will take you into the woods along the back edge of the pond. Walk in on this path... the path gets less distinguishable when you see a large rotten stump on your right. Now, look past the stump at an evergreen tree... walk to it. Behind the evergreen, you will the six sisters who protect the Dancer in her new home.

Within the Dancer you will find the clues to our new bonus box... Paperdolls.

Enjoy the hunt!
