What is a “flock” camera? You are heading to one right now.
This one can’t see you while you are hunting for the box, it is facing the opposite way.
A flock camera is the World’s Biggest Tattletale. They watch and record and keep a giant list of where everyone is going. They use artificial intelligence (AI) or a computer brain to try and guess things about people and follow them. Because these cameras are live on the internet, they can be “hacked.” The security is weak and the hacker can see everything.
Also, Flock owns the data-not the police or security that placed these, so the data on your movements and location history will be sold to a third party.
The Bottom Line: Even if these cameras are trying to help, having a “Super-Spy Robot" on every corner makes life feel a lot less like a free neighborhood and a lot more like a giant science experiment.
Plus, nobody likes a snitch!

To see what one looks like for your awareness, head to San Miguel, CA. This town has one at every entrance, but you will head south on Mission Street to the closed headquarters of Courtside Cellars. Address: 2425 Mission Street, San Miguel, CA.
Park in front of the closed facility guard shack by the front entrance gates.
Stand facing the gate entrance keypad and turn to the Southeast. Walk 29 paces Southeast and tromp on some bushes while doing so. Then turn to the Northeast. Walk 3 paces to 3 large boulders in the garden. Between the first two boulders are some small rocks. By carefully moving the small rocks, you will find the Big Brother Letterbox.
Collect your stamp and carefully replace box when you are finished.
Stand up and look to the south along the road as it heads back into San Miguel.
There is a large black pole with a solar panel and a camera on it.
This is a flock camera! This is their standard look. You can find them at almost all Home Depots as well.
Thank you for visiting the letterbox. I hope this gives you awareness in your daily life.

Please see both the Mission and the Rios-Caledonia Adobe for more information on this historical area while you are here in San Miguel.
