The Dragons Perch

There’s a county park in town with much to explore. You will park somewhere around the circle and exit your vehicle. Approach the footpath and use caution as the trail has much to lose footing on. Once you make a small descent, you can go down further or you can make a slight left on a barely visible footpath and gradually go up along a ridge. Should you choose to increase your elevation you’ll make your way into a boreal grove of trees alongside a steep bluff drop off on your right. There are no guard rails so use caution. The hiking trail will eventually become mainly cedar trees and bring you higher and higher. Like natural steps made of tree roots.
Take caution if you explore in winter as they can become slick with freezing and thawing. After about 10 minutes you’ll come to the highest point which is also a clearing with an overlook like a fish eye lens of Green Bay facing west. Be cautious as a fall would surely be fatal. This is the Dragon Perch, so named by a little girl named Emma adventuring with her brother Max and their grandad. Emma Rita is no longer earthside but this letter box exists to honor her memory.

When you are standing on the rock platform of the Dragon’s Perch looking out at the water, look to your right where you approached from. 25 paces away back in the direction you came you’ll see 3 sawn off cedar tree stumps. Two clumped and one close by. There’s also a steep drop off shaped like a V just before them in the limestone rock on the trail. If you reach under the roots of the clumped pair you will find the treasure at the Dragon’s Perch.

When you visit this box please respect the space and box as you would a memorial. If something is amiss or needs maintaining please report the need.
