Difficulty: Hard
Distance to Letterbox: Out and Back = 15 miles (consider backpacking).
This box is located at Iceberg Lake, a beautiful lake in high Sierras and a great hike or backpack.
Directions:
From Mammoth, take road to Devil's Postpile. If before 7am you can drive to parking lot. If after 7am you must stop at Alpine area and buy bus ticket and take bus to parking. Get to Agnew Meadows parking lot.
To the letterbox:
Hike the Shadow lake trail to Shadow lake. Continue on the trail to Ediza Lake. Walk half way up the lake, then turn left at trail sign for Iceberg Lake. Climb up wall, then cross upper meadow area to outflow from lake. Continue to where outflow starts at the lake. The trail will split here (one down to water and the other keeps going along the shore). Look left uphill and find 1st tall evergreen tree. Go up to that tree, and circle right around rock base below it. Box is at base of that tree on this side (on top of the huge rock) under a rock pile. At far end of crevasse.
