Part of my Beer Series
Terrain Difficulty: Easy (slight slope, 0.9 mi RT)
1188 Brewing was hatched in 2012 from the bond of two families, sisters Shannon and Jennifer, and their spouses, Jeremy and Ken, and the name comes from the racing numbers of Shannon and Jennifer’s father and Ken’s father. A theme behind the craft beers of 1188 is exploration into new territory, so come do your own exploring after finding this box on the Swick Old Growth Loop.
Directions:
For the Brewery, go to 141 E Main St. For the letterbox, drive south on Hwy 395 for 17.6 miles and turn left into Swick Old Growth Interpretive Site. After 0.1 miles on gravel road FR 011, turn right into parking area with an outhouse.
Clues:
Walk on the trail to right of the bench, going counter-clockwise past signs about the forest. Go to sign about Pileated Woodpeckers after trail bends left and starts heading back. Go off trail behind sign 15 steps to large 4' stump. LB is in crevice at top under a big piece of bark.
