This Letterbox is lovingly dedicated to the families of Sandhill Cranes that frequent this beautiful park. When we first moved to the area, our kiddos helped us dub the parents “Meeny” and “Miney” and the baby, “Moe”, and the names have passed on to the various cranes we’ve seen grow their families over the years. So for this hunt, imagine you’ve sprouted wings and are viewing the land from the sky, as an airborne crane. Enjoy your flight!
CLUE:
Begin your flight at the Northwest entrance of Quarry Hill Park. Soar along the gray river that heads South. Pass between the two green roofs and wrap around where the ground dwellers grow their food. Continue on towards the sunrise until the gray river splits, then head South for the winter, but just for a very short migration. At the T, spy a large tree standing sentinel in a field, and swoop around it. Fly along the bridge that separates two waters, a perfect place for food and shelter, perhaps to raise a chick. Continue North when the gray turns to green, and follow until the top of the hill. Finally, come to rest under the boughs of an old oak tree. Nestled among its roots is where you'll find your reward.
