Part of my Beer Series
Terrain Difficulty: Difficult (steep slope, 2.5 mi RT)
Cliffside Cider is Squamish's first cidery having opened for business in June 2018. You can enjoy great tasting traditional cider with sunny views of the Stawamus Chief after hiking it in Stawamus Chief Park, where this box can be found.
Directions:
For the brewery, go to 37760 2nd Ave #103. For the letterbox, go south on Hwy 99 to Stawamus Chief Park on left and park in lot just before the walk-in campsite lot.
Clues:
Walk to kiosk on left side of campsite lot and go left of it on asphalt road going past campsites toward trailhead for Chief Peaks Trail on left. Go up wood steps and steep trail to jct with Sea to Summit trail where you continue straight. At jct with Third Peak, go left toward First & Second Peaks, still climbing steeply. At jct with Second Peak, go left toward First Peak, eventually using two chains and a ladder to help climb the rock face. At top of second chain will be a beautiful view on left, but go right 18 steps on faint dirt path to two small trees together. LB is at base under a rock & needles. The rest of the climb to the top is a steep scramble for a few hundred meters, but the view is worth it!
