This puzzle is about a Dr who wasn’t a real Doctor. Though he wrote and illustrated many popular children’s books, he really didn’t have patience for kids. Before writing for children, he designed propaganda cartoons for the Army and an advertisement for FLIT bug spray. He based the ‘Grinch’ on himself. I’m sure by now you’ve correctly figured out that Dr Seuss is the topic, without a doubt!
Today we won’t be visiting Seuss’ Diffendoofer School,
in the town of Dinkerville.
Instead, you’ll head to California-
the one near Turbotville.
It’s not LA, or San Diego,
and not even close to San Francisco.
In fact- this California’s so tiny in size that to blink once or twice
would be unwise!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose!
So go to LIMESTONE TOWNSHIP CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL MEMORIAL PARK (at 7 California Road, Watsontown PA) Hint: it’s next to the California Grange #941).
The school is gone,
It’s now a landmark.
What’s left are a bell, a flag and a poem,
students’ names on bricks,
And grass to roam.
Find the brick for a student named PICKLE, real name Golder.
He’s next to Pat but a few years older.
Now, from Pickle’s brick look straight ahead.
You’ll see a bench that’s black, not red.
Walk 90 steps to arrive at said bench.
Have a snack or maybe a lunch.
After you’ve had a treat on the seat,
rest awhile, then look at your feet.
It doesn’t matter if you wear shoes or boots-
under the plants to your right, you’ll find this letterboxing loot!
Now stamp with the the stamp that’s inside the stamp box.
Then close it tight, until it looks.
Please hide it where it was hidden before-
