Letterbox Parking: There is a parking area with a kiosk at Booker parcel A/B on Hovey Rd, GPS coordinates: 42.140310, -72.345580; additional property information can be found here: https://www.opacumlt.org/properties/jean-m-booker-conservation-area/

Total Distance: 0.65 miles
Difficulty: Easy
Clues:
Park in the Booker parking lot. The White Trail starts at the kiosk across the street. Remember to look both ways before crossing the road!

The start of the trail goes through a grove of Mountain Laurel. Come back in June when it’s in bloom - its beautiful!

Keep hiking along the White Trail. You’ll see a giant boulder on the right that’s on our property line.

Hop over the fallen white birch tree on the White Trail. Even hiking trails require a spring cleaning!

Keep following the White Trail, be sure to not be fooled by the lichen growing on the trees along the trail.

You’ll pass over another fallen tree on the trail.

When you make it to where the Red Connector Trail veers off the White Trail, go left to continue down the Red Connector Trail. (If you keep on the White Trail and go right, it’ll take you to a nice view of the pond – but not a letterbox!)

Look for two big rocks on the right side of the trail. The letterbox will be behind the bigger rock. If you see a tree stump with a red blaze near the bottom on the right side of the trail, you’ve gone too far!

Carefully remove the letterbox, add the stamp from the letterbox to your logbook and re-hide the box, so that it isn’t visible unless you know where to look.

This section of the Red Trail is a previous logging road used in forest management. If you continue along the Red Trail, it will take you to the former landing area off of Hovey Road where you can either go left and walk back to the parking area or go right and continue on the White Trail towards the pond.
