Parking: The trailhead is on Reimers Road in Monson, approximately 1 mile from the
intersection with Silver Street and approximately 1 mile from the intersection with Stebbins Road.; additional property information can be found here:
https://www.opacumlt.org/properties/quinlan-memorial-conservation-area/
Total Distance: 0.7 miles
Difficulty: Moderate = Steep uphill with two intermittent stream crossings.
Clues:
1. Park at the kiosk and start heading up the trail.
2. Keep hiking up the trail which goes through a small grove of pine trees.
3.The trail should take you through an opening in a stone wall.
4.At the fork in the Yellow Trail, go left.
Keep hiking the Yellow Trail, you will cross over two small intermittent streams with logs
to help you cross the stream.
5.
After you’ve crossed both streams on the trail, keep hiking up the Yellow Trail and keep
an eye out for a large rock with smaller rocks on top of it and a dead standing pine tree
growing on it on the right side of the trail.
6.
At the fork between the start of the Blue Trail or continuing along the Yellow Trail, look
for a decomposing tree trunk to find the letterbox!
7.
Carefully remove the letterbox, add the stamp from the letterbox to your logbook and rehide the box, so that it isn’t visible unless you know where to look.
8.Turn back to return to the parking area
