there are many graveyards in the united states that have fallen into disrepair and neglect. some of these graveyards have only one lone soul and others have many graves. there is an old russian proverb that says "to be remembered in death is to have truly lived". this is my way of remembering.
the town of weare was founded in 1764. the year before its official founding the young wife of joshua corliss died and was buried in what was to be known as the corliss burial place. as there was no official undertaker or monumental mason the task fell to joshua to memorialize his wife's resting place.
find your way to 267 mountain road. there is a small parking spot in front of the burial place.
walk down to where abigail rests.
you probably noticed the small boulder near the road with the same engraving as what is found on abigail's stone. go to this monument and take note of the fairly large flat rock behind it. feel free to go around and sit yourself on this rock, facing the burial place. now reach under the rock and pull out a large camo bag.
as a side note none of the forgotten graveyard series are in a graveyard or in the walls that surround it but rather in the very near vicinity.
