Your search will start in Ashfield on Rt 112, at the start of Sears Rd, not far from the wonderful Three Sisters Sanctuary. Turn down Sears Rd. Go for less than a mile, and see the Ashfield Trails sign on the left for "The Boulders Trail." Parking for one car is there, or park fully pulled to the side of the road.

The trail is the equivalent of two long skinny circles with a connecting trail in between. You start out, walking awhile, traveling along an impressive stone wall on your right. You will come to the connecting trail, heading to the right and making your way comfortably over the stone wall. Notice the convergence of several stunning stone walls, unusually thick. Keep on going.

To your right, you will start to see handsome white quartz boulders, looking much like deposits of winter's snow. A bit ahead, on the left, you will start to see one of the stunning boulders. This beauty is split right down the middle, large enough for you to walk through. Stop just before being tempted to walk in.

Just at that beginning, turn to the right and walk 16 paces around the boulder, on the trail. Stop and just on your right, you will see a modest rock slab with a two-stone cairn on top. Beneath the slab you will notice a gap, likely hidden, somewhat, with dried leaves. Gently push aside those leaves to see the letterbox revealed!

After exchanging stamps and writing in your name and date, please replace it, with those leaves for more secrecy. Savor the boulder and the split. Great photo opportunity!

Returning to the trail, walking back from where you came, you can head to the right hiking the other half of the elongated circle. Take note of the enormous swamp on the right. You'll soon come back to the stone wall to now head more to the right, to see the other side of the lower circle...and more stunning boulders! The trail brings you right back to the start of the trail and your parked car.
