Your search for this box starts in the middle of this park near the playground. Find something that goes “woof.” When you have found it, stand facing west and gaze up at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Take a deep breath and enjoy the beautiful view. The high hill to your west and slightly to the north is known as Hogback Ridge. Hiking to its peak takes about 1 to 1.5 hours round trip and begins in the southwest corner of Dakota Blvd and 5th Street. Consider going for a hike after finding this box to take in the view of Boulder from above!
Turn so you are face to face with the “woofer.” In the corner of the park directly in front of you (northwest corner), you will find a silhouette of a stegosaurus. If you see a T-Rex or dinosaur footprints, you’re in the wrong corner of the park. The stegosaurus silhouette in this corner is the inspiration for this hand-carved stamp!
Along the west side of the park, you’ll see a line of pine/evergreen trees. Walk south along these pine trees until you come to the 10th pine tree. Don’t count any of the deciduous trees, only the pine trees! On the north side of the 10th pine tree, about chest high, you’ll find your treasure, a hand-carved stegosaurus stamp! Happy hunting!
