Walk down the path and you will see a large kiosk on your right. Continue along the trail, over a small wooden bridge. On your left, you will see Opacum Pond starting to form through the shrubs. The trail may be a little muddy in this area, but we ask that you stay straight on the trail and not erode the hillside. We are working on fixing up that section of the trail.
You will then go up a hill – notice how dark it feels, that is because you are in an Eastern Hemlock grove, and as an evergreen tree, it holds its scale-like leaves and blocks the sun to give the dark forest feel. At the top of the hill, turn to your right to follow the blue trail over the wooden bridge. Look to your left on the wooden bridge – you will see busy beavers work of several beaver dams holding back water from Opacum Pond!
After the bridge, the trail will curve to the right. Stay on the blue trail, do NOT go up the hill as that trail is now closed.
Follow the blue trail and it will then curve to the left, following the stream to your right (notice the new beaver dam on your right!) and it will then curve to the left. Follow the trail as it meanders into the property for about .2 miles until you reach the “T’ intersection.
You have arrived at an old cart road. Turn left to continue along the blue trail. Along the former cart road, you will notice a stone wall on your right that, while not complete along the road, pops up occasionally.
You will come to a section of the stone wall where directly across the trail on your left there is a large blowdown and cut up logs and trunk of a large tree. Look behind the stone wall, under a rock jutting out, to find the letterbox!

Carefully remove the letterbox, add the stamp from the letterbox to your logbook and re-hide the box, so that it isn’t visible unless you know where to look.

You can now opt to continue on the blue trail and have a lovely ramble through the forest, or turn back and backtrack if you are short on time.
