After parking at the trail head, return to the road and take a left and walk down the road to the bottom of the hill.
At the bottom of the hill, take a left into the woods, following trail signs for the Blue Trail
Continue on the Blue Trail as you cross the bridge over Stevens Brook
After the bridge, the Blue Trail will split and you can choose to go to the right or left. Stay to the right and continue following blue blazes.
Continue along the trail, following blazes and signs for the Blue Trail
You will climb a steep hill and then pass through an area with many downed birch trees
As you begin your descent down the other side of the hill, the forest will become thicker and the trail will narrow.
When this happens, look for a 5-trunked birch tree that is very close to the trail on the right side. Look for the letterbox in its hollow base (at around 0.8 miles)
If you pass by a very large boulder (about 5' tall and wide and on the right of the trail), you have gone too far.
Carefully remove the letterbox, add the stamp from the letterbox to your logbook and re-hide the box, so that it isn’t visible unless you know where to look.
Continue following the trail and blue blazes and descend the hill. You will eventually end up along Stevens Brook. Enjoy the small waterfalls and mossy trees and rocks! (Note: There are small sections of this trail which are sloped and uneven)
When you begin to veer away from the brook, you are nearly to the end of the loop.
When you arrive back at the place where the blue trail rejoins itself and the loop ends, take a right to head back to the bridge

After crossing the bridge, you have two options:

Continue straight on the blue trail and retrace your steps to the road and take a right onto the road to head back to the parking area OR
After crossing the bridge, take a right onto the white trail. This is a nice walk along the opposite side of Stevens Brook. Follow this trail until it meets the yellow trail. Turn left onto the yellow trail, which will take you up a hill and back to the parking area.
