HITCHHIKER ALERT: As a bonus for the first finder, we left a new hitchhiker in the box.
Green Brook Park is a 100-acre (40 ha) county park along the Green Brook, a tributary of the Raritan River, in the city of Plainfield in Union County, New Jersey. Designed by the Olmsted Brothers, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 14, 2004, for its significance in landscape architecture. It extends into the borough of North Plainfield in Somerset County. - from Wikipedia
Enter Green Brook Park from Clinton Avenue in Plainfield. Drive along Park Drive until you come to a children's castle on your right. Park in the horseshoe lot across from the castle.
Exit you car and head north across Park Drive towards the bridge over (rarely) troubled water. Once across the green brook, take the path less traveled into the woods. You will pass beneath a small black locust and cross through a green gate before entering an overgrown clearing.
Look for the ancient tree of life (sycamore) in the center of the clearing. Once you walk next to it, look to find the pile of dead husks of its kin on your right. You should see one that has a black cast pointing towards the gate at the end of the clearing. Walk towards the pile and look for an opening. Inside will be your reward, covered with a small log.
Note: There are several walking loops to enjoy here and porta potties near the Castle should you need. The park is also dog friendly.
