Terrain Difficulty: Easy (slight slope, 3 km RT)
Botanical Beach & Botany Bay Loop is a hike down a picturesque path through ancient forests to tidal pools teeming with marine life. You can also spot weird twisted trees, including one right on the trail that makes a complete loop with its trunk, along with the one in this box.
Directions:
Drive southwest on Cerantes Rd to end at parking lot for Botanical Beach & Botany Bay Loop. Drive around the lot past the first trailhead to near the exit and park by the trailhead at a kiosk.
Clues:
Walk clockwise on the trail, soon bending right on a dirt road, to a jct where the Juan de Fuca trail goes left. Go straight toward Botany Bay, passing a couple of beach access points, to the twisted tree with a loop in the middle of the trail. Continue 15 steps to a large stump on right just before trail bends left. LB is at back within the bark. Please be discreet.
