This letterbox is on Arizona State Trust Land. You must purchase a recreation permit on the Arizona State Land Department's website (https://azland.my.salesforce-sites.com/recreationalpermit/) in order to access the site.
The starting point is N 32° 40.660 W 114° 23.826. From I8, take the Foothills Blvd. exit 14 and turn north. Then, turn east onto North Frontage Rd. and travel 1.1 miles. Turn North onto Ave 14E and travel 0.8 miles. Turn West onto Masterson Ave. and travel 0.3 miles. The starting point is on Masterson Ave just west of Virgil Dr.
From this point on, your vehicle needs off road capabilities, otherwise you should hike. Locate a dirt road heading NNW in a straight line. This is a section of the historic Fortuna Mine Road. Proceed on this road heading NNW for 1780 feet, about 1/3 of a mile. Pass through a rocky wash before you find a sandy wash running east/west. Turn west on the sandy wash and travel for about 230 feet. At this point look south and locate two Mesquite trees close together about 50 feet away. The letterbox is in one of these trees.
NOTE: there is another tree further west with a large box among some rocks at its base. This box is NOT Letters to Santa. If you see it, you have gone too far west.
