From Thomas, West Virginia follow Rte. 27 South toward Coketon.
After crossing the bridge over the north fork of the Blackwater River, there is a small road that goes down and to the left toward Douglas Falls. It's called Locomotive Lane. Take this road. It has lots of potholes so go very slowly. In .5 miles you will see old coke ovens on both sides of the road. Stop at the information area. There is a lot of history to learn here. Facing the information signs, the letterbox is in the trunk of an old tree on top the third coke oven from the right end. It's the new home of Carla Crab.
