The Prince of Butterflies Series
As you are sitting outside enjoying the summer sun a small exhausted humming bird lands on your leg. At first you are startled but then you realize it means you no harm. Upon further inspection you notice the tiniest scroll of paper tied to its leg.
As the hummingbird lays there, on its side, one eye looking up at you, with its tiny heart fluttering, you gingerly remove the scroll of paper.
Setting the bird down to rest, you run inside to get a magnifying glass. You carefully open the scroll and see the following curious note…..
“Greetings, I hope this note finds help! I am Prince Valiant, High Prince of the Royal Family that rules the Farie kingdom. Since the birth of time, we have been honored to be the protectors of the Butterflies of the world.
We protect these creatures of light from their mortal enemies, the jealous and cruel grass hopper horde.
Something terrible has happened!
Montore, lord of the Monarch Butterflies was scheduled to visit a park the humans call Pamperin during the summer tour of 2023. The horde laid a trap and sprung an ambush!
A terrible battle took place, we drove off the horde but at a great cost. All of the Farie defenders except for me have gone missing. A terrible spell was cast and Montore, Lord of the Monarchs has been turned into a metal statue!
I have gone into hiding in this park, watching over Montore’s statue. The Horde scouts continue to search the park for survivors and are intent on keeping Montore just as he currently is. I used all of my farie power during the battle, I am very weak and can do nothing but keep watch and wait for help.
I hope this letter finds a creature of the light. The Faries need your help, come to the park and follow these clues to find the symbols of power, collect them in your journal and bring them to me. I call upon thee, creature of the light, to fulfill your age old promise of help.
To find the first symbol of power, The DRAGON FLY BOX…
To find this symbol of power find the bridge that spans the river that flows through the park. Standing directly in front of the bridge turn to your right and follow the river until the cement walkway ends(the river should be on your left). Once at the end of the cement walkway, turn left and take 2 steps towards the river. Turn around and face the fence. Notice the 2nd fence post to the right (back the way you came), the 2nd post with a pointy top ?(1 post to the right of the corner post). Directly in line with this post, by the rocks, there lies a large orangish rock. There under that flat orange rock lies the Dragon Fly box. Before removing the box, make sure no one is watching, any of them could be spies of the Horde. Make sure to carefully re-hide the Dragon Fly box when you are done.
Very good my brave friend, now quickly on to the 2nd symbol of power, the Lady Bug Box.
LADY BUG BOX
Head back to the bridge, cross over to the other side of the river. This is a Frisbee golf course.. Be mindful of the golfers, stay out of their way for they are spies of the Horde. Their flying disks continuously search for me. Let them pass and stay out of their way.
Look to the left and find the Frisbee Basket number 18. It is near the tree line of the woods. From basket 18, face the river, now turn right. Follow the tree line of the woods for 24 steps, keeping the woods on the right. There you will find 2 fallen giants (2 fallen trees), one lying on top of the other. The second symbol of power is hidden in the skin of the upper tree (the bark), about halfway from the roots to the tip. Once you find the box, find a safe spot away from the frisbee golfers to stamp your journals.
Well done adventurer! Now on to the 3rd symbol of power, the Flower Box!
FLOWER BOX
Quickly now, my power fades, check that you are still alone and if your way is clear, do the following. Keeping the tree line of the woods on your right, begin walking. There is a nice wide path lined with wood chips just inside the tree line. Follow this path. Keep walking until you see a white, small building off in the distance to your left, towards the river. Stay by the woods but walk until you are about even with the white shed. You will also see frisbee golf cage 10 about halfway to the river. Stay by the woods but when you are somewhat even with cage 10 turn and look into the woods. There is a path that leads up hill, into the woods. Take care there are not horde spies throwing disks directly at you ! If it is safe, climb the hill, into the woods until you find the Frisbee Golf Tee box number 10. Facing uphill, looking at the tee box, look to the left and find the fallen tree. Beneath the base of this tree, hidden under some bark is the 3rd symbol of power, the Flower Box.
Now it is time to bring your symbols of power to the hiding spot of the Farie Prince and set him free!
RESCUING THE PRINCE
You are getting close, now silently creep back down the hill to the edge of the clearing, back the way you came. Wait until no Frisbee Golf spies are about then make the hike back to the bridge that spans the river. Facing the bridge turn to the left and look for a white garden gate in the distance. Head swiftly to this gate, if you are a creature of light, you will be allowed to enter the garden of Montore!! Only creatures of good can enter this area. Even though Montore has been turned into a metal statue his magic seeps out and seeds this small area with beauty. Due take a moment to look around and explore. Stop and pay homage to Montore (the butterfly statue) as you pass.
Now down to business. To find and save the prince.
THE BUTTERFLY PRINCE BOX
Stand at the garden exit opposite the white gate. There 2 ways to find the hidden spot from here. If you have a compass, stand at the exit of the garden and walk due north until you reach the edge of the woods. From there, look directly up the hill to find Tee Box number 2. If you do not have a compass, start at the exit of the garden, turn towards the woods. Walk 16 steps until you see a lone rock sitting by a tree. From this rock, walk straight to the tree line of the woods. Turn right and walk roughly 36 steps, keeping the woods on your left. Now turn and face the woods. you should see near the top of the hill, Tee Box number 2. Facing uphill looking at Tee Box number 2 , look to the left and find a fallen tree. This is where the Prince Hides. You know you have the correct fallen tree if it is to the left of Tee box 2 when looking up the hill. The prince waits for you in the middle of the main stump of the tree, under a protective pile of bark and small logs.
Once you stamp the Butterfly Prince in your journal, he will be set free. You, my brave friend will have saved the kingdom of the butterflies! The prince will surely break the and restore Montore to his original self!
Please re-hide the box carefully under the bark and logs.

Now it is time to bring your symbols of power to the hiding spot of the Farie Prince and set him free!
RESCUING THE PRINCE
