Greetings, adventurers everywhere! The RFD crew is off again enjoying vacation and leaving a little letterboxing love behind for all of you!
This year, we decided to head to the Green Mountain State for a relaxing week of kayaking, hiking, geocaching and letterboxing. While we were here, we horse lovers visited the UVM Morgan Horse Farm and the Vermont Icelandic Horse Farm. Mrs RFD finally got her bucket list wish to ride a special horse gait known as the tolt, which can only be performed by an Icelandic horse. What a wonderful week!!
We love to try local foods and treats when we travel, so we made it our mission to try maple creemees ... and BOY have the creemee places we've gone been worth the extra calories!!!
When we travel, we love to leave a box behind for all of you to find as a thank you for a fun-filled visit. To honor Vermont's sweet treat, head to the town of Vergennes and find your way to Button Bay Road. Follow the road until you see the sign for the Button Bay Boat Access. Head down the driveway into the parking lot on the right. Walk the rest of the way down to the water's edge, keeping to the left side of the boat ramp. At the water's edge, turn left and walk along the edge of the bay for about 50 steps. Now turn left and take about 7-8 steps into the trees, stepping in between a tree on your right and some large rocks on your left. See that multi-trunk maple tree on your left, with the 2 horizontal logs behind it? Nestled in a divot in one of the logs, under some duff, is your sweet treat. ENJOY!!!!
