The Clue Crew and Merry Moose are spreading some joy, during difficult times, by planting letterboxes.
Hope you’re able to get outside and enjoy them! :)
These letterboxes are planted at the Evelyn H & Albert D, Sr. Morse Preserve, on the Mary Jane Morse Greenwood Trail.
This is a helpful map:

Locate the green gate and park along Alton Mountain Road. Please do not block the green gate.
There is no parking lot here and there is no sign indicating that this is the Mary Jane Morse Greenwood Trail.
Walk around the green gate and begin your ascent up the old trail road.
This old road is still used by the Society for the Protection of NH Forests and there was a crew working on maintenance of the trails when we were hiking out there. The views are absolutely amazing at the top!
And the foliage is just gorgeous in Autumn.
Letterbox 1-Mountain Cone:
Walk up the windy trail for a while.
When you get to a point on the trail where it curves to the right and begins to enter the forest, look to your left for a boulder.
The boulder is nestled between a triple birch tree in the front, slightly to the left, and a multi-stemmed maple behind.
Look behind the boulder at the base, under a small rock and sticks.
You’ll find the first stamp in a camouflaged Letterboxing pouch.
After stamping in, please place back exactly where you found it and cover it well.
Be sure to enjoy the beautiful view that’s here.
Letterbox 2-Mountain Fruit:
Continue up the mountain trail road.
There is an additional letterbox on this trail too. You may want to read the clues for “Pine Mountain Cone”.
You’ll be passing by it on your way up.
Continue walking a while until you reach an intersection.
You will see a rock wall on your left with a red oak tree next to it.
This oak tree has signs on it.
Behind this tree, at the base, under some sticks is where you’ll find the stamp and logbook in a camouflaged letterbox pouch.
Please use stealth, as it can be a busy area.
After stamping in, please place back exactly where you found it and hide it well.
Continue up to the Pine Mountain peak and enjoy the amazing views.
There is a sign at the top indicating all of the peaks and landscape that you’re looking at.
During blueberry season, there are lots of blueberries up here.
Hike back down the way you came up to get back to your vehicle.
Hope you enjoyed the adventure. :)
