Park in Tin Mountain Conservation Center parking lot. Day we visited there were a few trail maps on porch of center. Inside this beautiful building are the area's offices and restrooms. We spoke with Heather the outreach coordinator who really loves her job and the area. She knows of the letterboxes on the property. There is no fee to use the trails, but donations are welcomed. there are also picnic tables around the center.
If a map is not available, take a picture of the trail map posted on the kiosk near the trail head. Trails are marked with ceramic pictures of the animals the trails are named after.
To get to box take the Maple Leaf trail to Chase Pond and Beaver Loop. Go left at pond to Beaver Loop. Cross bridge after which trail splits go straight/right. When you see a mid-sized boulder on the left with a beaver sign on the tree behind it then 2 more steps and a beaver sign going in the other direction-Stop. Look right towards the water. There will be a trio (not sister trees) of largish hemlocks about 15 steps off trail. Behind first tree on left, before decaying log, under SPOS is fish. It is in camo covered rectangular box with logbook.
We found this area due to other letterboxes on the property. Bug spray is suggested, and some trails were muddy. Enjoy your visit.
