Terrain Difficulty: Easy (flat, 0.5 mile RT)
Big Spring took its name from the single, large spring that had long been a popular watering hole for Native American residents. It is where Comanches assembled and organized themselves before departing on large-scale raids into northern Mexico in the mid-1800s, and is now part of Comanche Trail Park where this box can be found.
Directions:
From S Gregg St (BUS 87) go southwest on Whipkey Dr for 0.6 mile then left on Christian Rd into Comanche Trail Park. Park by large Spring sign and giant arrow on left.
Clues:
Walk on cement path to the spring and read the plaques. Go left on hike & bike trail across two bridges and past tennis courts on left. Pass through narrow area between trees to where trail begins to curve right and ascend. Go left 8 steps off trail to multi-trunk tree with bench and disc golf tee box behind it. LB is within trunks under a rock & leaves.
