Difficulty: Easy
Distance to Letterbox: 10 yards
**** Part of Other Forts of Texas Series *********
Camp Herbert - (1861 - unknown), A CSA staging camp located along the railroad east of Clear Creek, near Camp Groce. Nothing remains of the fort, but a Historical Marker is located where it was believed to be in the area.
Directions:
From Highway 290 go west, exit Liendo Parkway and go left (south). At Bus 290, turn right and go about a mile to sign for Historical Marker. Pull over on right next to 2 markers.
To the Letterbox: (no log)
Read the signs. Now go left along the fence to the first Yaupon bush. Box is at back base of that bush under leaves.
Hike length: 0.1 miles
