Settler's fort. Here is Marker Text: Built before 1835 as a home and trading post by Martin Lacy, Indian agent for the Mexican government.
Used as a place of refuge after the massacre of the Killough family, October 5, 1838.
Directions:
From Alto, go West on Hwy 21, pass historical marker on left with stone marker. Soon after is another historical marker on the right. Pull off and park in front of marker (right after FM 2902). Sign is on left side of road, but marker and parking on right side).
To the Letterbox: (Small container)
Walk to the stone marker and read. Go to left side of stone, then around to back. Box at base under asphalt block.
