Difficulty: Easy
Distance: About 100 yards
Horn Hill is seven miles northwest of Groesbeck in west central Limestone County. It was once known as Mount Vernon, but the name Horn Hill became better established. Two possible sources for the name Horn Hill have been suggested. The first is that the name derives from the shape of a prominent elevation in the area. The second possibility is that the name was suggested by the early practice of marking turns in the road with steer horns.
Directions:
From Groesbeck, go west on Hwy 164. Turn right on Horn Hill Rd (LCR 390). At intersection of LCR 354 on left and LCR 390 straight, stay straight and look for cemetery soon on the right. Park by the cemetery arch.
To the Letterbox:
Walk through main gate. Go to far left back corner of cemetery fence (near headstone for "Nonamaker"). In corner is a rock pile. Box is on top of pile, under a few rocks.
Hike length: 0.1 miles
