Take US-45 north out of Bruce Crossing for roughly 8 miles. The O Kun de Kun trailhead is a small turnoff located on the right side of the highway. This is a gentle hike on a well maintained trail with gravel and wooden planks.
The trail is part of the North Country Trail, an interstate trail stretching from North Dakota to New York.
The trail approaches the Baltimore River at 1.2 miles. There is a small waterfall, Peanut Butter Falls, and a small swimming hole. Continue on the trail you will reach the larger plunge falls called O Kun de Kun Falls. If you feel adventuresome and sure-footed, it is possible to climb behind the falls. Depending on water levels, you may or may not get wet. Continue further downstream to the Baltimore River Suspension Bridge where you get a great view of the falls. After playing in the water below the falls, begin your trek back starting at the suspension bridge along the path you came. Notice a big boulder on your right. Look under the front lip of the boulder for a pile of rocks. Hidden behind the rocks rests the Letterbox.
Hike length: 2-3 miles
