We planted this box as part of the "Love from a distance: Spread hearts, not COVID" super-series.
This box is located at the Haystack Property, a town-owned hiking area in Foster, RI.
From state Route 101, go south on Boss Road passing the intersection where Winsor Road comes in (stay left rather than taking a right), then the Rhode Island State Police Training Facility. Park in a little dirt lot across from the southern end of Winsor Forest Products, a closed sawmill at 55 Winsor Road. You’ll see a brown gate with Foster Land Trust signs around. If you continue south and reach an odd stone wall landscaped area with no house, you’ve gone too far.
Take the yellow blazed trail a short distance until you see white trail markers on metal posts on both sides of the trail. Go right on white. Very soon, you’ll see a big rock on the left, with a tiny tree on top. Spot the next rock on the left and, from there, walk left into the woods, 24 steps to a double tree with a low rock between the sisters. The further sister is leaning a bit, has black streaks, and there’s a hollow at the foot of the far side. Under bark and leaves is Equi-Love, because we love horses and they would love it out here!
No logbook here; please log online.
