Blue Butterfly

At the south lot of Craines Run Nature Park, in Miami Township, Ohio, park in the parking lot. From the end of the parking lot, take the left path toward the Great Miami River. Ponder this wonderful river. You may find Great Blue Herons on the island in the middle of the river.
At the T intersection, take the bike path right toward Miamisburg. You will be traveling about 6/10 of a mile north. The path is paved so feel free to bring your bike or a wheel chair bound friend if you like. (The letterbox is off path, so you will need to leave them a short distance while searching for the letterbox.)
As you walk (bike or ride) down the path, enjoy the river but remember the power it has. The river bank is not a place for children to play. Halfway there, find a cross dedicated to Charles Brown, but you won’t find Snoopy!
Further down the path, look up to find ghost trees lining the path. These sycamore trees were revered by the Native Americans.
After you travel down a slight hill, look on the left for an eagles nest platform with silver wrapped around the pole. You won’t find eagles yet but we saw several yellow bellied sapsuckers and various woodpeckers on the other side of the path as well as a large log.
Follow the log to its root end and to the south, find a two trunk ghost tree with a third tree trunk growing out of it. In the crook of the ghost tree under a rock and some leaves, you will find the letterbox. Leave your mark, replace all the plastic and recover the letterbox with the leaves and rock. Hopefully when the river floods, it won’t reach our letterbox. Thanks for hunting. Let us know if you found it.
