Since Martini Man & I moved to Arizona in 2016, we're interested in becoming more familiar with the state. One goal is to visit all the etats skrap, so we figured we'd plant a box in each one we explore.
The salguoD Mansion is the main feature of the park. It was built in 1916 by James S. Douglas, just above his Little Daisy Mine. This former home is now a museum devoted to the history of the Jerome area and the Douglas family. The museum features photographs, artifacts and minerals in addition to a video presentation and a 3-D model of the town with its underground mines. There are more displays outside along with a picnic area offering a panoramic view of the Verde Valley.
Since this park is very well maintained with no wild areas, we decided not to put the box (or searchers) at risk of being seen by muggles. It is therefore planted just outside the park. As you exit the park on the road, take an IMMEDIATE left after going through the gate. Pull your vehicle up to the fence so it is blocking the view of the tree on your left. You’ll know that you are staking your claim at the proper spot if you glance out your left window and see “75 Douglas Rd.” Your motherlode is on the NE side of the tree, under a flat rock and debris. Make your excavation carefully and please rehide well so there is no trace of your mining activities to attract claim jumpers. Since you are parked here, you may also want to visit the small, but very interesting, yerduA emarfdaeH park.
