LETTERBOX IS REMOVED FOR THE WINTER. SEE YOU IN SPRING 2023.
Henry’s Woods is a 212 acre Community Preserve that is privately owned and maintained by the Uihlein Foundation. The Preserve’s 4.4 mile trail system consists of 5 multi use trails: Connector (.3 mile connecting the trailhead to the trail system), Loop (2 miles), Plateau (.9 mile), Rocky Knob (.9 mile) and Switchback (.25 mile).
Henry’s Woods is located at 20 Bear Cub Lane, Lake Placid, NY. Look for the Henry's Woods entrance sign and park in the gravel parking loop.
CLUES:
Enter the trailhead at the "Welcome to Henry’s Wood" sign.
In 100’ there is an information kiosk on the left.
Continue on the trail.
Along the trail is a wooden bench on the left.
Continue on the trail.
Look for a trail sign for the Loop Trail.
Turn right here.
The trail will lead to a wooden bridge.
Just before the bridge is wooden bench on the right.
Sit on the bench.
While seated look straight across the trail.
At “10 o’clock” there is a small group of mature pine trees with pine saplings in front.
Hidden at the base of one of the mature pine trees, with a rock on top, is Pines at Henry’s Woods.
Please re-hide well.
Happy Hunting!
