Difficulty: Moderately – High altitude
Distance: 5 miles round trip
This box is located at Bear Creek Falls in Telluride. Nice hike up old road, along creek, and eventually to pretty waterfall.
Directions:
From Telluride, Trailhead starts off South Pine street. Park where you can, then find your way to the trailhead. From gondola, go under to river, then left along trail to South Pine Street, turn right on road and cross river and go to next block. You will see trail sign straight ahead
To the Letterbox:
Parking can be an issue in Telluride, so park where you can and walk to trailhead. Follow trail up until you reach the base of the upper falls. You should see a large rock at base. From it, go right (if facing falls) up social trail to right (to right of rocks). When you reach lowest rock of outcrop, go around back end and up to the large boulder. Box is at base of this rock, about midway, under a rock pile.
Hike length: 3-5 miles
