** To find this box, you may get your feet wet and you should watch your footing around the stream/river, so be careful. If the river is running high and fast, you should not go hunting for this box. **
Park at the Jackson, NH post office. If you look around you will see a stone bridge going over the Ellis River. Walk from the post office over to the bridge and cross it. Once you cross the stone bridge via the sidewalk, you should walk across Main St/16A toward Carter Notch Rd. You will end up at a dirt parking area between Carter Notch Rd and the Ellis River, across from the Wentworth Inn. Walk along the parking area that borders Carter Notch Rd until you hit grass (or jump to the next clue, if it's winter). As you look to your right, you will see an antique snow roller. Walk over to the snow roller and read about the history behind it. Once you are done reading, walk past the snow roller and continue on a small dirt path behind the roller, and around the small carriage house, till you see a white gazebo in the field by the Ellis River. You will be walking toward the waterfall. Walk past the gazebo till you see a stone mill wheel. Pass the mill wheel and find the "wet" crossing for the mill-race stream, the small stream that was historically diverted away from the bottom of the falls, which rejoins the main course of the river and creates a small "island" in the middle of the Ellis River. After you cross over the mil-race stream (be careful along the banks of the stream) you will find a pyramid-shaped rock. Underneath the pyramid-shaped rock is the medium-sized letter box.
Clue: The rock is very close to the bank of the stream.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
