I created this clue by borrowing a format used by Mu for a letterbox he planted in Portland.

Are you thirsty for some cocktails with a friend?

From the illustrated location in the final location, take 40 steps due west. Your cocktails await under the longest fallen log on the right, near the standing pine.

But first, this diabolical plot requires you to do some bar-hopping in the two counties west of Milwaukee!

Start at a bar named after a candy that doesn’t melt in your hands. Travel 12.3 miles to a bar that African animals might like to frequent. Next travel 9.6 miles to a bar named for a Norwegian emigrant who opened a sawmill in the area and a place where you can find water in a desert. From here travel 11.6 miles to a bar named for the devices used to open a keg of beer. Turn around and return to the spot of the emigrant. Next travel 4 miles to a tavern that might produce pelts for expensive coats. Now travel 10 miles to a place named for a common waterfowl entering and then exiting with its typical gait.

Take a break and then travel 14 miles to a bar that might be named for a noble German rabbit with droopy ears. Now travel 5.3 miles to a slang term for a cheap or disreputable bar or saloon, owned by someone who may have been named after a singer with the surname of Rogers. From here travel 4.7 miles to a bar that caters to people that are crazy about beverages from the fruit of the vine. Next travel 9.3 miles to a pub where a male who isn’t rich might provide some refreshments. Now travel 5.7 miles to a home in a place nicknamed Bullfrog Station.

Take another break and then travel 12.5 miles to a bar that must be very impressive, exciting, or enjoyable in slang terms. Now travel 5.1 miles to Tinseltown’s home away from home. Next journey 2.5 miles to a place that was formerly a stage coach stop in a village whose name comes from a Native American term meaning “twins.” From here travel 2.7 miles to a piggy pub and then 3.5 miles to a place to watch the heart of our solar system bid goodnight. Lastly, travel 5 miles SW to the final location.

Notes:
• All distances are approximate, hopefully within 0.1 miles.
• The long journey can, and probably should, be traversed virtually. The short journey at the final illustrated location must, of course, be experienced in person.

Please let me know if you had a successful Happy Hour!
