Cascade Peace Park
8900 Grand River Dr
Ada, MI 49301
Peace Park/Cascade Peace Park is approximately 198 acres in size. This property consists of floodplain and meadow areas with extensive old growth forest. No improvements are on the property and it is intended that any changes to the property will only allow for passive recreational uses.
Cascade Peace Park is located at 8900 Grand River Ave. and can be accessed from two locations. The access off from Bolt Drive is located at the west end of Bolt Dr on an unpaved section of road. This access point has a small parking area and is better suited for handicapped access. The Grand River drive access is at the far NE corner of the property. Grand River Dr provides better access for those on bikes since it is located along a dedicated bike lane on the park side of the Grand River Dr. This location also provides an opportunity to provide public parking.
This letterbox is hidden at my favorite place in the park.
Clues:
There are 2 entrances to this park. Use the entrance off Grand River Dr.
At the sign for the park, you may want to borrow a map of the park. Get your compass ready and start the uphill climb SW 230°. You will pass a stone foundation of a long forgotten building.
Keep heading uphill, past red with roots criss crossing your feet.
Soon you will find The Peace of the Wild Things.
The trail divides, head south 180°
The trail divides again. Which way to go? There is another map, another way. Be on the LOOKOUT for a TRAIL descending yellow/orange. Head East
A narrower trail but marked by granite the glaciers left behind.
You are almost there. A bench you seek. The sounds of water echo below you.
Sit with your back to Mary and Marius.
Look South 180°, Over fallen trees to a moss covered roots reaching down with a trident reaching for the sky.
Off trail you will go. Be careful, may be slippery. Make your way, about 60 paces you will go.
What you seek lies in the center of the tritree.
Woof!
If you continue on the trail, you will pass old apple trees. Wonder about how this land might have been used in the past.
As you make your way back after your find, consider exploring the red trail. Another favorite of mine. Be on the lookout for a possible albino turkey and maybe a cow?
Thanks for searching. Hope you enjoyed your treasure hunt.
