Daisy’s Adventure:
This adventure begins in the parking lot, located behind the playground. Daisy began her adventure by walking away from the playground along the concrete walking path until she came across the Turtle Creek Nature Trail sign. When she approached the sign, she seen a Brownie Elf run into the forest. Being the adventurous Girl Scout she is, she decided to take a walk to see if she could find the little elf that ran in. Daisy started counting her steps as she walked, and around her 85th step, she looked to her right and seen a large fallen tree. She followed the nature trail through a dense forest of cherry, hickory, and oak trees remembering to leave no trace. However, watch for wildlife everywhere- on her Springtime visit she heard several species of songbirds and animal prints along the forest floor. Daisy took extra special care not to rub against brushes along the trail. She came to her first fork in the trail. After much consideration, she decided to follow the path to the left. She continued to walk along the trail and noticed that some trees had cuts in the bark. She wondered why someone had done that to the trees. She continued to walk, and Daisy came to another fork in the trail and decided this time she’d go right. After several yards, Daisy came across a large rock in the trail that she had to walk over. She remembered this rock because it had a crack down that middle that helped it resemble a large deer track. She could hear water flowing and eventually she could see a creek at the bottom of the hill. Daisy stopped at the base of the hill and looked around. In front of her was the creek. She spotted something out of the corner of her eye and turned her head. That had to be that mischievous Brownie Elf! To her left was a large fallen tree that was split into three sections. Daisy decided to investigate toward the base of the tree closest to the water. This part of the tree was open and clear of brushes and trees. She heard a giggle that lead her to the section of tree that was farthest away from the trail. She looked all around and even under that fallen tree. The little elf eventually he arrived at her landmark. She ran under the tree, wiggled in between the tree and some sticks, and sat down. She was home.
Please hide the box nicely where you found it for others to enjoy. Remember to leave your mark and close it up exactly the way you found it. Don’t forget to stamp your book. Remember to leave no trace and respect the forest. If you go when it is warmer, stay on the trail and try to not brush up against the bushes. Wear bugspray and sun block if needed!
Hike length: 1-2 miles
