The Cache la Poudre is Colorado’s only nationally designated “Wild & Scenic” River. The name refers to an incident in the 1820s when French trappers, caught by a snowstorm, were forced to bury part of their gunpowder along the banks of the river. Today you can enjoy the scenic river canyon along the Cache la Poudre-North Park Scenic Byway as you look for this box at the Big Bend Sheep Viewing Area near Kinikinik, famous for being one of the longest Palindromic Places in the USA.

Directions:
Drive east on CO-14 (Cache la Poudre-North Park Scenic Byway) to road on south side for Big Bend Campground. Turn on it, then immediately turn left to small parking area for Big Bend Sheep Viewing Area.

Clues:
Walk east to sheep viewing area with signs along a stone wall. From right end of wall, go left 6 steps to where wall juts out before going left. Look over wall for LB at back side under rocks & dirt.

Hike length: 0.1 miles
