Adkins Mill is a small park in Pittsville, MD. To get there, take Mt. Hermon Road (from the west) to the end and make a right. The park is about 1/3 mile on the left.

You can do this letterbox as a drive-by or spend some time and enjoy the park.

The long way: Park your car, and follow the path that leads out of the parking lot. At the end of the path, turn left. You’ll see a wooden walkway over a stream – follow it until the end, while enjoying the nature life. At the end of the walkway, reverse and return all the way back to the path. Make a right to return to the parking lot, and you will see the Gnome’s Home right in front of you. Stop by to visit the Gnome and make sure you close the door carefully when you leave. Count six large trees on the right; the sixth tree will be in the shrubbery. A pile of sticks hides the letterbox.

As a drive-by: Park your car and walk to the end of the row of large trees. Turn to face the parking lot and you will see the Gnome’s Home. Follow the directions above.

Hike length: 0.5 miles
