A Little History...
The Caledonia library began operating in 1926 in the home of Mrs. Alton Bowman with the efforts of the Caledonia Women’s Club. In December 1934, Caledonia became the second community to join the newly-established Kent County Library Association. The library moved in 1981 into the remodeled United Brethren Church on Emmons Street, and in 2011 to a new, 18,000-square-foot facility on 92nd Street. Find out more at KDL.org.

Instructions:
Park at the Caledonia Township Library. Go to the north end of the building, past the bike rack and the flagpole to the paved trail. Head west. Cross over the boardwalk. Continue on the trail past the stream that ends at the lake. Another bridge you will find. Cross over it to continue on the path. Houses on one side, a reedy field on the other. Find a second pile of white rocks and you’re on the right path.

When you have a choice, go to the right. Thirsty yet? Continue toward the water tower. At the building, stay left to follow the paved trail through the field.

Heading back to school? Stay to the left. Walk toward the basketball courts to the “graph paper” wall on the right. Head left toward the school. Before going to class, head right to the Science Trail and into the woods. Traverse the rustic path past the fallen tree. Continue on the trail past the village of teepees. A tree bent over the path will welcome you.

You’re almost there! When you have a choice, left is best. Go past the primitive drive-in screen to a tree is in the middle of the road. When you reach it, go to the dead tree at 2 o’clock. From there, yet again at 2 o‘clock, head 20 paces to the squirrel’s home. At the back door is where you’ll find the letterbox.
