Difficulty: Moderate - some steep places, especially after the 1st lake.
Distance: 8 Miles RT
This was our favorite hike on the trip, and probably the best we have done in Colorado. The first lake is stunning, and the climb up to lake 2 and 3 give you even better views of that lake. Highly recommend you visit at least the first lake. This box is before the 2nd lake, so you could climb up to get the great views and box, but not all the way to 3rd lake.
Directions:
From Ridgeway, go west on Hwy 62 for 4.8 miles. Turn left on CR7, marked Dallas Creek. Stay on CR 7 for 9 miles until the end and park.
To the Letterbox:
Hike to the first lake and view. then go back to the trail sign before lake, and follow it across the creek and up the hillside. You will get great views as you get higher. Just before a slot on the right going down and the 2nd lake, go left off trail to left side of huge boulder. Go 5 feet along boulder, then look at base under rocks.
Hike length: 5-8 miles
