DNA Story:
My wife was adopted, and had great adoptive parents. They both have passed away years ago, so for the first time she started wondering about her biological family. For her birthday, I got her an Ancestry DNA kit, and she submitted it. About a month later the report came back. A direct match to her father, but only second cousins to her mom. After hours of research we came up with who we believed was her mother. The next week her father contacted her. The next night they talked on the phone, and even though he did not know about her, he was thrilled to have a new daughter. He has 3 other daughters, so now half sisters to my wife. Within 2 weeks he flew to meet her, and it went great. After that visit she decided to write a letter to her mother. The day her mother got the letter she contacted my wife. They soon talked on the phone and started a relationship also. She has 3 daughters, so 3 more half sisters. My wife flew out to meet her mom and sisters the next month, and we plan to go again later this year. This last weekend we flew to meet her father's daughters at Lake Tahoe, where the family was spending their yearly get toghther. We spent the day I hid this box on this beach, having fun and getting to know each other. They are a wonderful family, and we are happy to now be part of it. This has been an amazing journey for my wife, and I have enjoyed the ride also!!!!

Directions:
From South Lake Tahoe, go west on Hwy 50, then right on Hwy 89 toward Emerald Bay. After Camp Richardson, start looking for sign on right for Baldwin Beach. Turn right and pay fee at booth. Go all the way to left to farthest parking lot.

To the Letterbox:
Walk to the beach. Now go left along beach. Cross the stream (was about knee deep). Continue along beach following fence on the left to its end. Go left and head away from beach for about 50 yards to the long white downed tree (To right you can see the bathroom building). Go to root end, then look behind tree to brush line and see the large pine tree. Box is at back base of this big pine under bark.

Hike length: 0.1 miles
