NoBeBoSco (North Bergen Boy Scouts) is a sleepy little Boy Scout camp in the area of the Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area in western New Jersey. It gained a measure of fame in the late 1970’s when it served as the location for the filming of the original Friday the 13th movie. A section of a very long, very well-known trail runs along the ridge behind the camp. Following this trail, you will come to a wide-open area, largely barren of trees, which overlooks the camp, providing an incredible view of the camp and the surrounding valley. Shouts from the ridge echo back quite clearly. In the open space is a rounded boulder next to a small tree. There is a chunk of the boulder missing on one side, which makes a perfect seat. From this seat, sight 264 degrees and walk about 40 steps to a split rock with a four-inch wide crack in it. The box is in the crack, under two rocks.
• Bring your own ink; black is suggested.
• Please replace the rocks as you found them, so the box is not visible.
• Unless you have authorization, do not descend the ridge to the area around the lake, as it is private property.
Hike length: 1-2 miles
