Drive by. Hand carved stamp
The Buenos Aires Refuge is a nature and wildlife enthusiast's paradise. Established in 1985, it serves as refuge for several groups of plants and animals which depend upon each other for survival. The 117,464 acre refuge goes from a little north of Arivaca to the Mexican border. I don't recommend exploring without information on the reserve. U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service @www.fws.gov/ is a good web site.
To the box:
From I-19 take Arivaca rd. through "down town" Arivaca to Rt.286 which is almost the western border of the refuge. Before the stop sign make a u-turn and park in the pull-off on the south side. From the corner, count four iron fence posts east from the Refuge sign to the tree with the box hidden between a couple of trunks covered with sticks. Not too well hidden but no foot traffic in the area. A lot of Border Control trucks passed but no problem.
On the east side of town is a preserve worth visiting to view birds and marsh creatures.
